Landings At The Glen

‘The Landings’ is one of the four original subdivisions in ‘The Glen’ area of Glenview. Comprised of single family homes built by Concord LLC, this subdivision has faced many challenges when compared to other subdivisions in The Glen. The challenges were faced with determination, and The Landings in The Glen is now one of the most beautiful subdivisions in all of Glenview.

(Pictured at the top left is a two story colonial red brick faced home. The extended front porch is stunning.)

The first issue the builders had was how to deal with was three retention ponds the Village of Glenview required. Not only did the Village of Glenview need the ponds, but they were also to be used by a nearby shopping center as well as a retirement complex adjacent to in The Glen

The second issue with the subdivision was landscaping around the retention ponds. The builder decided to turn the job over to the Homeowners Association at The Glen. Consequently, The Landings in The Glen put together a magnificent landscaping project for the ponds. The ponds add to the beauty and serenity of the area, complementing the types of homes in the subdivision.

The focal point of the design for the ponds was the prairie style look. This began with the building of the Naval Air Station. Today, the ponds are one of the loveliest areas in The Glen. There is an alluring gazebo (pictured to the left, second down from the top) overlooking them. This is a beautiful area and a wonderful place to relax. The land around the ponds provide a perfect backdrop for family photos, especially in the fall months. The ponds are also quite popular for fishing. You can find people relaxing with their fishing rods while enjoying the beautiful scenery on any given summer day.

There are several custom designs offered in the homes at The Landings. (Pictured on the left, second from the bottom is an all brick two story colonial. Glass shingles adorn the roof and there is a brick paver patio in the rear.)

The subdivision was built on 55.1 acres with 143 single family homes. Home owners had the option to make custom interior changes to all facets of the interior building process. Potential home owners could also decide if they wanted to go with a standard model and make no customized changes.

The houses themselves range from 2200 square feet in area, to 4000 square feet. (On the lower left is a lovely two story brick and stone covered home with a column front on a tree lined street.)

All homes have full, unfinished basements, and unfinished two or three car garages. The prices (without custom design) began at $457,000 and went as high as $606,000. Of course, the custom homes varied in price and were more expensive than the homes with just standard options.

Regardless of which option(s) the buyer selected, purchasing a home in the area was a very wise investment decision since prices have now doubled what they were!
